Shea Homes acquires land for master-planned community in Montgomery County

by Emily Marek

Shea Homes has closed on a 300-acre property in Montgomery County for its newest master-planned community, Woodhavyn.

Located along Dobbin-Huffsmith Road, Woodhavyn will contain approximately 700 home sites. While pricing has not yet been announced, Woodhavyn homes are expected to hit the market by late 2023.

“Just west of The Woodlands, Woodhavyn offers excellent access to Highway 249 and FM 1488 in a fast-growing area of Montgomery County,” said Jim Zimmerman, vice president of land acquisition at Shea Homes. “In addition, FM 2978 is nearby, offering a straight shot to the Grand Parkway, and The Woodlands is just a few miles to the east.”

The community will contain multiple cul-de-sacs as well as waterways, green spaces and a recreation center. The southern portion of the property overlaps Mill Creek, which Shea Homes plans to keep in its natural state. The community falls under the Magnolia Independent School District.

Woodhavyn will be the third Houston area community developed by Shea Homes. Their first project, Del Bello Lakes, began selling homes in 2020. Last month, the builder began construction of Evergreen, a 740-acre community in Conroe. Evergreen home sales are expected to begin in spring of 2023.
