HAR: New listings “typical for this time of year”

by Emily Marek

The Houston Association of REALTORS® Weekly Activity Snapshot shows that new listings are down 6% year over year. New listings tend to dip into the negative territory around the holidays, as consumers are busy with preparations.

Pending listings are down as well, with 34.2% fewer houses going under contract for the week ending in Nov. 21 compared to the same time frame last year.

Off-market listings continue to increase over 2021 levels—over 1,200 homes were pulled from the market last week, compared to 810 off-market the same week last year.

Additionally, HAR found that consumer traffic at showings last week was the lowest volume in all of 2022. Year-over-year, the decline was only 7.1%.
