Keller Williams The Woodlands and Magnolia

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
High school agriculture science teacher

Where did you grow up?
Temple

Growing up, what did you want to be?
Marine biologist. I thought it would be a really cool career that I could live by the coast and see dolphins all day, but in reality sometimes it is not that.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Work out! Staying in the best mental and physical shape is one of the most important things in my mind.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Dolly Parton or Whitney Houston. Both are music icons and grew up without the silver spoon in their mouth. They had a passion and built a life around something they love to do, but also built families and legacies that will last lifetime to come.

What is Houston’s best kept secret?
The FOOD!

What do you love most about the industry?
The connections. The relationships. The grind of success.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Consistency. So often agents and leaders get distracted by what their website looks like, or is their smile too perfect, or is the lighting good, when really people want to do business with who they like. Stay consistent, communicate with the people in your world and build a business that you love that represents you.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Pick three things you love to do and build a business around it. Real estate is not complicated. Our mindset gets in the way and makes it complicated, but many times our goals are clear.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to?
“House of the Dragon” and listening to the MRA podcast

What’s your favorite meal in Houston?
Cantina Barba tacos! But can you really narrow Houston’s food down to one thing?!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
James Turrell’s Twilight Epiphany Skyscape

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
When I was in full production before moving into the leadership realm of real estate, I walked into a house that was filled with over 20 raccoons.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love being a 28 year old team leader of a major real estate franchise with 350 agents. Also, I am one of the few people that is born without a particular muscle in my jaw, which causes my smile to sag on one side.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Port Aransas. I grew up going to Port Aransas, so it is my home away from home that brings back childhood memories and peace to the body and mind.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Be vulnerable and fail forward.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
For real estate, that would be Jason Abrams. For motivation, that would be author Ryan Leak.
