What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
Being an entrepreneur and investor, exploring business opportunities and learning how to turn challenges into opportunities. I started investing in real estate in Hong Kong in early 90’s and that experience sparked my passion for finding undervalued properties, solving problems and creating wealth through real estate.
Where did you grow up?
I born in Beijing, China. My family moved to Hong Knog went I was five years old, so I grew up in an exciting, fast-paced international city that shaped my outlook on business, opportunity and life.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
An interior designer and an entrepreneur. I’ve always loved creativity, beautiful spaces and the idea of building something of my own. Looking back, it’s funny how those two dreams came together in real estate!
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I love to slow down and reconnect with the things that bring me joy. Gardening helps me relax and enjoy nature, painting lets me express my creative side and cooking is another way I unwind and enjoy being creative. Spending quality time with my family keeps me grounded, and traveling gives me a fresh perspective and new inspiration.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Warren Buffett and Sara Blakely, for different reasons. I admire Warren Buffett’s long-term investment philosophy, discipline and ability to recognize opportunities when others are fearful. I also admire Sara Blakely for her entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and courage to turn an idea into a successful business. Both inspire me in different ways: Warren represents the wisdom of investing, while Sara represents the courage to create. I believe lasting success comes from combining both.
What is Houston’s best kept secret?
It’s so much more than people think! Beyond the traffic and summer heat, Houston is a city full of hidden gems, incredible international food, a rich cultural scene and diverse neighborhoods with tremendous potential. As a professional in the real estate business, I also see another secret: the opportunities to build wealth here. Houston offers opportunities for people at many different stages of life and investment journeys. You just have to know where to look!
What do you love most about the industry?
The opportunity to help people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. Whether it’s helping a family find their dream home, guiding a seller through a major life transition or helping an investor build wealth, every transaction has a story behind it. I enjoy connecting people with the right opportunities, solving problems and negotiating the best possible outcome for my clients. Real estate is more than buying and selling houses. It’s about building relationships, earning trust, giving my professional knowledge and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives for their real estate needs.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Knowing that behind every real estate transaction, there are real people, emotions and life-changing decisions. I genuinely care about my clients, and I want them to get the best possible outcome. Sometimes, that means helping them see things from a different perspective or having an honest conversation that may not be what they want to hear. I’ve learned that I can’t control the market or every outcome, but I can always control my integrity, my effort and the advice I give.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Have a lead-generation plan and work it consistently. Don’t rely on just one source. Invest in marketing, create a good CRM system and use the system to run a very serious business. Most importantly, track your activities, follow up regularly and measure what actually produces results.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to?
I’m always curious and love learning something new, especially about business, investing and personal growth. I enjoy listening to podcasts and reading books that challenge me to think differently and discover new opportunities. I’m also drawn to stories about successful entrepreneurs and investors because there’s always something to learn from their journeys. When I want to unwind, I’d rather enjoy a good travel show or spend time exploring new ideas for cooking, gardening and painting. Learning never stops, but life should always leave room for fun!
What’s your favorite meal in Houston?
I love hot pot, and Haidilao in Katy is one of my favorite places to enjoy it.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
Williams Tower. I love its timeless, elegant design and the way it stands out in the Houston skyline.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I have a creative side! I love exploring different ways to see potential in things others might overlook, whether it’s transforming a property, finding an unconventional investment opportunity or creating something beautiful.
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
In the U.S., I love Vail and Aspen for their breathtaking mountain scenery, beautiful surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. Disney World is another favorite because it brings out the fun and excitement in traveling! For overseas travel, Beijing is a favorite because I love experiencing different cultures, exploring history and discovering new perspectives.
