David Weekley Homes partnered with 19 nonprofit organizations to give back to communities around the country as part of the builder’s CARE Build Month.
Thirteen of David Weekley’s local divisions worked in partnership with local chapters of Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Austin, Charleston, Charlotte, Colorado Springs, Fort Worth, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh and San Antonio, constructing over 1,000 beds. Additionally, the Tampa division worked with BridgePoint Church to put together bed kits.
“The volunteers from David Weekley Homes are always eager to pitch in and get covered in sawdust,” said Ben Lake, social media and marketing director for the Georgetown chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “We greatly value our partnership with David Weekley Homes and love working together to ensure no kids sleep on the floor in our town!”
Other local divisions volunteered in different ways: the Salt Lake City division built bikes and skateboards for children in foster care, while the Orlando team built dressers for families recovering from tragedies. The Denver division performed maintenance on Rocky Mountain Village, a camp for children and adults with disabilities. The Atlanta division partnered with HomeAid Atlanta, laying out 9,000 square feet of sod for a yard and play area at the Gateway Domestic Violence Shelter.
“Our CARE program is one of my favorite aspects of working for David Weekley Homes,” said Pam Hirsh, a land purchasing analyst at David Weekley Homes in Denver. “Our annual Build Month projects really connect me to our community here and open my eyes to the different opportunities we have to help those around us.”
In addition to volunteering time, company members also collected donations of bedding and toiletries from trade and vendor partners as well as peers in the real estate industry.
Through David Weekley’s CARE program, the company has donated over $275 million to philanthropic causes over the past 20 years.
