Closings down again in Houston

by Emily Marek

Despite a brief swing into positive territory last week, closings are once again down from 2022 levels in Houston, according to the latest Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Single-family home sales were down 8% year over year, with 1,642 homes sold during the week ended August 14 compared to 1,784 a year prior. Pending listings were also down 11.1% year over year.

New listings, however, rose slightly above last year’s volume. Realtors entered 2,998 new listings into the Multiple Listing Service, a 1.7% increase over the amount entered during the same week in 2022.
