Houston single-family home sales were up 1.9% year over year during the week ended Aug. 21, according to the Houston Association of REALTORS® Weekly Activity Snapshot.
With 1,846 units sold during the week, closings were up from 2022 volumes for the second time this year. New listings, however, were down. Realtors entered 2,879 properties into the Multiple Listing Service, a 4.7% decline year over year.
Pending listings were down as well, with 11.7% fewer listings going under contract.
Traffic at property showings continued to outpace last year’s volumes. Showings were up 7.3% to 37,611.
