New listings increase as home sales lag

by Emily Marek

Houston inventory was revitalized by a 6.9% increase in new listings during the week ended Nov. 20. But according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®, that wasn’t enough to bring pending or closed home sales into positive territory.

Realtors entered 2,580 new listings into the MLS, up from 2,414 entered during the same week in 2022. However, pending listings fell by 3% year over year while closings dropped 5.3%.

Consumer interest remained ahead of 2022 levels during the week, with a 4% increase in traffic at property showings.
