New listings declined 24.6% year over year in Houston during the week ended Dec. 2. That’s due to a late Thanksgiving, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.
Realtors entered 1,902 properties into the MLS. During the same week in 2023, when Thanksgiving had already passed, 2,523 properties were added to the market.
Following that trend, pending and closed listings also declined year over year. Pending listings decreased 15.4%, with 1,388 listings going under contract compared to 1,641 a year prior, while closings fell 19%, with 1,574 homes sold compared to 1,944.
