New listings fell 14% year over year during the 52nd week of 2024, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR).

Realtors entered 1,299 properties into the MLS during the week, down from 1,511 new listings during the last week of 2023. HAR suggests this could be due to the later observance of Christmas in 2024.

Pending and closed listings also decreased annually: Pending listings dropped 15.5%, with 1,051 properties going under contract, while closings fell 10.9%, with 1,289 homes sold.

However, prospective buyers were still perusing HAR.com for active listings as online listing views jumped 16.8% year over year.
