Closed home sales rise 14.2% in Houston

Closings increased 14.2% in Houston during the week ended Aug. 18, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Homebuyers purchased 1,815 properties during the week, up from 1,590 during the same week in 2024.

Pending listings, however, declined 5.8%, with 2,079 homes going under contract, down from 2,206 a year prior.

New listings increased 5.3% as Realtors added 3,674 homes to the MLS; meanwhile, off-market listings decreased 4.6%, with 2,348 listings removed from the HAR database.

Property showings jumped 10.9% year over year, with prospective buyers viewing 39,000 homes.
