Finding his passion for mortgage lending in 2006 after earning his real estate license a year prior, Clifton Saunders translates his analytical skills and technological know-how to help prospective buyers become homeowners and his Realtor partners increase their skills. With a background in sales and marketing, Saunders, branch manager of Guaranteed Rate and leader of The Clifton Saunders Mortgage Team, serves a range of customers, including veterans, first-time buyers, repeat clients and those with complex financial histories who may not otherwise qualify. He is frequently able to offer down payment assistance or tax credit programs where others do not.
“I love helping families acquire the American dream and build long-term wealth through homeownership,” says Saunders, adding that through evaluating his clients’ income and debts, he’s able to counsel them on the solutions that best fit their needs and budget. “I want to make sure they are armed with all the knowledge needed to get into their new home.”
This year, Saunders was presented with the President’s Club Award, placing him among Guaranteed Rate’s elite Loan Originators. Prior to joining Guaranteed Rate in 2019, Saunders was the No. 1 loan officer for Amcap Home’s HMG division from 2013 to 2018. He has received both the Five Star Lender and MCC Eagle awards from SETH, and was recognized as the Loan Officer of the Year by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, as well as a Top FHA Originator Nationwide by Scotsman Guide multiple years in a row.
Saunders is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and the Mortgage Bankers Association. He loves spending time with his family — he has helped his family members become homeowners themselves and prides himself on servicing his clients with the same integrity he serves his own family.
