In 2005, Clifton Saunders decided to get into real estate, as he had always wanted a career where he could help people. By 2006, after a year of being a Realtor, he realized there was a need for a knowledgeable lender that cared about clients. He became a mortgage lender to help prospective buyers become homeowners and to serve as a resource to Realtors looking for a great, trustworthy partner.
With his sales background and expert knowledge of lending guidelines, Saunders, branch manager at Guaranteed Rate and leader of The Clifton Saunders Mortgage Team, serves a range of customers that includes veterans, first-time homebuyers, repeat clients and even those with complex financial histories. Always making sure clients are getting the best deal, he frequently can offer down payment assistance or tax credit programs where others do not.
“When I work with a family, I help with a home loan evaluate their income and debts to counsel them on solutions to best fit their needs and budget,” says Saunders. “My goal with everybody is to help them build long-term wealth through homeownership.”
Saunders has been presented with Guaranteed Rate’s President’s Club award and recognized by the company as an “Elite Loan Originator.” Prior to joining Guaranteed Rate, he received other accolades, including No. 1 loan officer for AmCap, Home Loans HMG division, from 2013 to 2018, as well as 5 Star Lender and the MCC Eagle award from the Southeast Texas Housing Finance Corp.
