ActiveRain Suffers More Losses Following Washburn’s Departure

by Houston Agent

With the loss of co-founder and CEO Jon Washburn, ActiveRain, now under the command of Nikesh Parekh recently lost two more members who are now actively transitioning into careers at ePropertySites.com.

Steven Graham, who fostered ActiveRain University, and Douglas Ching, vice president of sales, announced their departures a few days ago on the ActiveRain blog, a post that received an outpouring of community gratitude and loss as the respected community leaders elected to move on shortly following Washburn’s leave.

“Since the changing of hands, we have grown to miss the creativity and challenges that come with building and maintaining this type of culture,” wrote Ching in his blog post.

The succession several of key players in ActiveRain’s community has many worried about the future direction of the site.

ActiveRain University alone has over 10,000 graduates, thanks to the efforts of Graham. The ActiveRain community in total caters to 207,317 real estate professionals.

“Imagine every tool you could possibly need to succeed online in one tool box. That is ePropertySites.com, where we will both continue to do the work we love, and although we’ll miss being part of what goes on behind the scenes at ActiveRain, we’re excited to embark on this new adventure,” wrote Ching.

This is very good news… making a great product (ePropertySites) even better!

  • This was an easy decision for Douglas and myself to make. I can not comment on specific changes ActiveRain is planning on making, as I have signed a nondisclosure agreement, but I will say, “I was not happy with the direction Nikesh and Market Leader want to take ActiveRain in.”

I would not be the least bit surprised to see more of ActiveRain’s top employees leave the company within the next few months.

ActiveRain was not built to be a sales platform for market leader, or any other company for that matter. I hope Niki will keep that in mind as he try’s to further monetize the site.
