The Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC) announced that The Woodlands have assumed a leadership role in The Bridgeland development project, a planned community in the Houston-area.

Grant Herlitz, president of the HHC, said the new role of the HHC is one of collaboration and success.

“This collaboration among the best experts in real estate development in the Houston area, as well as the country, will continue The Woodlands’ legacy of success at Bridgeland,” Herlitz said.

The Woodlands’ team brings three decades of real estate development to The Bridgeland. Co-presidents Alex Sutton and Tim Welbes of The Woodlands will be overseeing the project. Peter Houghton, vice president of master planned community development for HHC, will continue in his role as project manager.

Both The Woodlands and The Bridgeland are among the best-selling master planned communities in the country, ranking No. 3 and No. 12 respectively, by Metrostudy Report.

The HHC took over control of The Woodlands in July 2011, buying out their partner’s interest.
