Dallas-based developer and founder of Hillwood Communities, Ross Perot Jr., is planning to expand Hillwood Communities’s master-planned community offerings in Houston.

Hillwood Communities recently opened its master-planned community Pomona, located on about 1,000 acres in Manvel, south of Houston. The company is delivering about 300 lots in the first phase of Pomona.

Fred Balda, president of Hillwood Communities, is looking forward to the company’s move to expand their Houston presence.

“Houston has a wonderful master-planned community environment,” Balda told the Houston Business Journal. “We have 13 active communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. There’s no reason Houston can’t be that size for us.”

Hillwood Communities plans to offer environmentally-friendly communities that feature smart homes as a standard. The developer also plans to bring some new features to master-planned communities in Houston.
