Earlier this year, the Texas Education Agency issued a preliminary school accountability system where each school in the district is rated on an A-to-F grading scale. The graded system will be based on test scores, academic progress, educational equality and student engagement. Initially, the system will rank high schools for how well they prepare students for college. This new rating system, which was adopted by state lawmakers in 2015, will be fully implemented in August 2018.
