HGTV highlights the top luxury homes around the world

by Lauren Brocato

It’s HGTV enthusiasts’ favorite time of the year, when they’re able to get a taste of the luxury life by casting their vote for their favorite exotic homes.

HGTV and Luxury Portfolio International have teamed up in search of the world’s most beautiful homes in the HGTV Ultimate House Hunt. For the seventh consecutive year, these partners have hosted an online poll that showcases some of the world’s most beautiful and exotic estates, each in the running for a title. Every year, consumers are able to participate for one month by voting for what they believe are the most beautiful homes in the world across eight categories:

  • Homes with history
  • Curb appeal
  • Global homes
  • Urban digs
  • Extreme homes
  • Modern masterpieces
  • Do you love it, or would you list it?
  • Amazing kitchens

Along with the favorites in each category, people are also able to cast their vote for the “Overall Fan Favorite,” among other titles. Voters are able to enter a sweepstakes and be eligible to win a $10,000 prize prior to voting for their favorite homes.

“It’s always a thrill to see which of the incredible featured properties attract the most attention from HGTV’s audience of home enthusiasts,” said Leading Real Estate Companies of the World president and CEO Paul Boomsma in a statement.

A beachfront estate on the island of Turks and Caicos claimed the “Overall Fan Favorite” award last year in a showcase that attracted more than 1 million voters. This year, 88 finalists in 13 countries represented by 49 real estate companies are up for vote.

“We are delighted to join forces with HGTV again this year to showcase some of our members’ most stunning listings, from the ever-popular Waterfront Homes category to the exciting new collection of Urban Digs,” said Boomsma.

Atlanta boasts multiple nominees in the Curb Appeal, Amazing Kitchens and Do you love it, or would you list it categories.
