After graduating from Pepperdine University, Torrey Jacoby worked as a financial analyst for Jones Lang LaSalle before beginning his career in mortgages. He credits his success to his discipline and time management skills, which he developed while playing college baseball. “I’ve always loved numbers, but more importantly, I loved solving problems,” he explains. “That is exactly what the mortgage business entails.”
As a vice president of mortgage lending with Rate, Jacoby specializes in FHA, conventional, VA and jumbo loans. After working in the industry for 15 years, he represents many first-time homebuyers throughout Houston and the surrounding areas. With an all-business style, he prioritizes availability to his clients while providing genuine advice and great customer service. “Helping people purchase a home for their family to create memories is what drives me every day,” he says.
Recently named a top originator by Scotsman Guide in 2026, Jacoby was recognized as Lender of the Year in 2025 by Houston Agent. Despite switching companies, he managed to achieve his personal best in production last year.
While most of his business comes from Realtor referrals and past clients, Jacoby prefers to meet new clients face-to-face for an upfront conversation. “I want to understand their wants, goals and needs before diving into the process,” he clarifies. “This helps me get a better understanding of their family situation and future goals so I am able to successfully advise them.”
When he isn’t working, Jacoby enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family. “My wife is, and always has been, my biggest supporter,” he shares. He has a 6-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter and loves coaching his son’s baseball team.
