When it comes to master-planned communities in Texas, Houston is the place to be. RCLCO released its 2018 mid-year list for the top-selling master-planned communities around the country and of the top ten best selling communities in Texas, and the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area made up 70 percent of the list. 

According to the report, MPCs on the list saw a 16 percent increase, on average, in sales since the 2017 mid-year report. Texas, Florida and California continued to top the list and MPCs from those states made up 62 percent of the 50 ranked communities.

So far in 2017, the Houston metro area has 11 communities on the top-selling list, which is one more community then the area had at the end of 2017. Wildwood at Northpointe, Canyon Lakes West and Harvest Green were on the 2017 year-end list, but failed to make the 2018 mid-year list. The newcomers to the list include Harmony, Lago Mar, Tamaroon and Towne Lake.

For developers, Johnson Development Corp. leads the Houston communities, developing five of the 11 communities. Johnson Development Corp. has the No. 1 and No. 3 MPCs for Houston, with Howard Hughes in the middles at No. 2. 

Even though Fort Bend County only has two communities on the list so far this year, compared to four at the end of 2017, it is still considered to be an area seeing the most growth out of the Houston communities. Montgomery County is also seeing a large amount of growth so far in 2018.
