Closings rise in Houston

by Emily Marek

Closings were up 2.1% during the week ended Sept. 11, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS®. That’s only the third time home sales have grown on an annual basis so far this year.

Pending sales were down by 11.3%, however, with 1,983 listings going under contract compared to 2,236 during the same week in 2022.

New listings also fell short of 2022 volumes, though only by 1.7%. Realtors added 2,890 new properties to the Multiple Listing Service during the week.

Showings exceeded 2022 volumes again in Week 36, with 5.7% more property showings occurring year over year. Additionally, listing views on HAR.com rose by 15.7%.
