Houston is the No. 3 Gen Z hotspot in the country, according to a report from This Old House.
Over 60,000 Gen Zers moved to Houston in 2023, while 38,101 moved out. That’s a net gain of 22,868, up from 15,269 in 2022.
That trend closely mirrors millennial migration from 2013, when there was a net migration of 11,613 millennials into the Bayou City. That made Houston the eighth-most popular move-in destination for young people at the time.
Houston remains a top relocation spot for millennials, however, as well as Gen X. The city had a net gain of 5,301 millennials last year, the fourth-highest influx in the nation. When it comes to Gen X, Houston ranked No. 1, with a net gain of 6,312.
Zooming out, Texas was the No. 1 state for Gen Z and millennial inflow in 2023, with net gains of 91,012 and 117,004, respectively.
