Shirmel Gumbs-Heyliger, Realtor

The Doug Erdy Group

Tapping into her love for helping others and her fierce negotiation skills, Shirmel Gumbs-Heyliger is a staunch advocate for her clients and consistently puts their needs above her own. As a Realtor and Military Relocation Professional with the Doug Erdy Group, Gumbs-Heyliger, a former automated logistical specialist and human resource assistant in the U.S. Army, works with everyone from veterans, single mothers and young professionals to executives and professional athletes throughout Houston and the surrounding areas.

With personal experience buying and selling properties, Gumbs-Heyliger strives to provide the level of customer service that she herself has always needed. “For the typical person, real estate transactions are some of the most stressful periods in life,” she notes. “Clients deserve someone who is attentive to detail in order to make them comfortable during the process.”

In less than four years, and since earning the Doug Erdy Group’s Rookie of the Year award in 2017, Gumbs-Heyliger has become a Multi-Million Dollar Producer and a top buyer’s and seller’s agent, winning numerous awards from industry organizations and magazines. She was recently recognized among the Top 20 Black Real Estate Professionals by the Houston Black Real Estate Association and was named a finalist for Houston’s Best PRISM Realtor of the Year award by the Greater Houston Builder Association. In 2020, Gumbs-Heyliger established a scholarship fund for high school seniors in the Humble Independent School District. “My genuine passion to help others has been paramount to my success,” she says “Service above self!”

Raised in St. Croix, USVI, Gumbs-Heyliger moved with her husband and three sons to Houston in 2012. She fell in love with the city’s diversity and thriving culture. “Being a Realtor allows me to explore all the beautiful communities,” she says. “I know clients have a choice, so I’m always honored to be a part of their homebuying or selling journey.”

Outside of work, she supports several local charities and loves spending time outdoors, cooking and traveling with family and friends.
