Greenaway Plaza Construct to Replace Vacant Church

by Houston Agent

Houston developer The Morgan Group is preparing a high-end apartment complex that will utilize the old location of the Central Presbyterian Church on Richmond and Cummins.

The complex will feature 341 studio apartments averaging 875 square feet in size and rents from $1,100 to $2,300.

The Morgan Group contracted the 4.5 acre property last October, but it had been vacant since 2009, when Central Presbyterian Church merged with St. Philip Presbyterian Church on San Felipe.

In addition to the new complex, The Morgan Group owns two other projects in the Greenaway Plaza area that total roughly 800 units. According to Carter Bechtol, the senior vice president of development for the company, the timing is right for a third.

Designed by Wallace Garcia Wilson Architects, construction will begin next month with an anticipated opening by the end of 2012.
