KB Home acquired 100 acres to build a community with more single family homes, like this one in Houston’s Bershire Oaks community.

National homebuilder, KB Home, announced recently that it has acquired nearly 100 acres for a new community called Lakewood Pines in Atascocita, located northeast of Houston.

KB Home will begin land development later this year for over 300 homesites to be ready for model home construction by mid-2014. Future development includes more than 250 additional acres with up to 700 available homesites.

Current plans for KB Home’s Lakewood Pines include various neighborhood enclaves, some of which will be gated and offer direct access to Lake Houston via nature preserve space and hiking trails. Within the gated portion of the community, select homesites will offer lake views and others will be lakefront properties. Initial floor plan offerings will range in size from 2,000 to 4,000 square feet.

“Our vision for Lakewood Pines is one of an exclusive yet friendly neighborhood enhanced by the vast appeal of Lake Houston and its surrounding natural beauty, while still offering its residents an easy commute to employment centers, the airport and area shopping,” Jim Harrison, KB Home’s division president of Houston, said.

KB Home adds Lakewood Pines to 25 other Houston communities

This is KB Home’s 20th community acquired this year, for a total of approximately 1,000 acres. The Lakewood Pines community will join more than 25 active KB Home communities in the area that offers Built to Order single-family homes.

“We are quite excited to begin development on this prime piece of property, and add to our collection of homes in the Humble/Atascocita area,” Harrison said. “Our investment reflects how positive we feel about the Houston economy and housing market. The acquisition of these lots allows KB Home to add to its growing collection of Built to Order homes in the Atascocita area and help meet the demand of homeownership in the Houston market.”
