Nancy Suarez is a career development coach with Better Homes and Garden Real Estate Gary Greene working in Houston and Clear Lake.

What was your first job in the realty industry? Worked for a development company and equity brokerage in Houston for several years. Also managed a community association for a short time and relocated out of the Houston area. Returned nearly 20 years ago to Clear Lake City and have been in real estate for the past 14 years, concentrating now on coaching new agents in their business with BHGRE Gary Greene.

Where did you grow up? I am a native Texan from Orange/Beaumont (formerly “Golden Triangle”) and lived most of my life in southeast Texas!

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I practice yoga and enjoy suspense mystery television shows.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Always been interested in real estate marketing and wanted to serve people as well as manage a business.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Lucille Ball – comedian and entertainer! She was a great escape, and I loved her show as a young person.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Enjoy BJ’s and other restaurants with great atmosphere and delicious food.

What do you love most about the industry? Meeting all the interesting people and figuring out their goals in real estate. Serving their needs and guiding them in their decisions.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I make it personal and patiently listen to the client’s needs. I’ve partnered with a great company who has market share in the Houston Metro area!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Currently, since I am exclusively coaching new agents, it is learning their personalities and nuances of how they conduct their business.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I interview with my branch manager and encourage agents to check out our brokerage support. Also other interest groups like birding, choir and exercise at the YMCA.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Seeing my children grow into young productive adults calling Houston their home. Managing to live a comfortable life and continuing to experience the world through travel.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Philomena.

What is your favorite restaurant? Thai Cottage.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston? Chase Bank Tower.

What kind of car do you drive? BMW 335.

Smartphone or Paper? Smartphone, definitely.

What is your favorite city after Houston? New York.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Be prepared financially for the first 6 months of living expenses in this business as start-up costs can really add up quickly.

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app? HAR mobile

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I don’t follow anyone on Twitter – it is a virtual world and I enjoy interacting face-to-face.
