Houston is known for having one of the strongest economies in the nation. Which areas offer the most job opportunities to home buyers?
Houston and two surrounding suburbs offer some of the best job opportunities in the United States, according to an analysis of the nation’s different economies.
The study, which was conducted by Niche, a rate and review website, featured The Woodlands, Houston and Beaumont as having highly ranked work opportunities. The Woodlands ranked at No. 2, Houston at 43 and Beaumont at 76.
Niche determined those rankings through careful analysis and comparison of each area’s overall job market and economy at the city level. Some factors that were considered in those analyses included unemployment rates, the ratio of monthly housing cost to income and the percentage of residents between the ages of 25 and 64 who moved to the area within the last year. In 2014, Houston was ranked No. 8 in the top moving destinations in America.
This could be due to the fact that Houston has had major economic growth in the last decade. As Paige Martin, a broker associate with Keller Williams in Houston, explained in a recent Short List feature, Houston-based companies added 107,400 new jobs in 2014. On top of all that growth, the major employers have plans to add another 100,000-plus jobs in 2015. Most of these positions are expected to be filled by individuals who do not currently reside in Houston.
