Houston Developer Breaks Ground on Luxury Beachfront Community

by Ben Heichman

A new development is underworks by NewCoast Properties. The group plans to develop 35 home sites for a luxury beachfront community southeast of Houston.

The new community, called Seagrass Beach, will be built over 33.5 acres off State Highway 87 on Bolivar Peninsula, and will offer high-end features. Residents will have an obstructed view of the Gulf of Mexico, an 18-foot elevated pool with six cabanas overlooking the ocean, a beachside fire pit, tennis courts, four manicured lawn areas and a stocked fishing pond.

“There’s been very little development in the last 10 to 15 years on Bolivar Peninsula,” said Brad Ballard, principal of NewCoast Properties. “Seagrass Beach will have first-class amenities that no one else has.”

The gated home lots, which average a little more than an acre, are priced from the low $200,000s. New Coast is in talks with several Houston-based builders to construct homes and the project already has five buyers lined up, according to Ballard.

NewCoast is a new developer founded in January, which purchased the property out of foreclosure earlier this year.

The Seagrass Beach development and its amenities are expected to be finished in the next four to five months.
