Houston is the Fourth Buggiest City in the U.S.

Houston ranked no. 4 in Thumbtacks‘ survey of U.S cities that have the highest pest control problems.

For the survey, Thumbtacks studied the 159 largest cities in the U.S., looking at such things as the need for pest control, bed bug extermination, outdoor pesticide application, and termite and pest inspection; with those factors, Thumbtacks then assignee a “Pest Index Score” to the city.

Below is the list of the top 10 cities:


Thumbtacks also rated the cities with the least pest control problems. They are:

  1. El Paso, TX
  2. Fresno, CA
  3. Santa Cruz, CA
  4. Salinas, CA
  5. Spokane, WA
  6. Grand Rapids, MI
  7. Saginaw, MI
  8. Eugene, OR
  9. Modesto, CA
  10. Lexington, KY
