Keller Williams Memorial Realty hosted a presentation to help its agents understand how to stay out of situations that may risk their personal safety, and what to do if they feel threatened.
After the 2014 murder of Arkansas Realtor Beverly Carter, along with recent reports of men trying to lure female real estate agents to fake home showings, Keller Williams viewed it their top priority to take action in combating safety issues facing women in real estate.
Betty Bezemer, a licensed Keller Williams agent, said that while she has never encountered a threatening situation in her 29-year real estate career, she can’t think of anything more important to address.
“We’ve been working on our safety program for months,” Bezemer said. “We’re working to give our agents the tactical information they need.”
The presentation was held in the Keller Williams Memorial Realty training room and streamed live for Keller Williams agents unable to attend the presentation.
