Harris county is at a very high risk for natural hazards, like tornadoes, hurricane storm surges and floods, and so is Galveston, a report from ATTOM Data Solutions confirmed. Brazoria County is at a high risk – Liberty and Montgomery are at a low one. This is stuff homebuyers are going to want to know.

In each of the six Greater Houston counties evaluated in ATTOM’s report, each has a moderate rate of risk in at least one natural hazard category – though Harris and Galveston are the most exposed.

See our table below to find out what hazards homebuyers should expect in what counties:

County Natural Hazard Risk Tornado Risk Hurrican Storm Surge Risk Flood Risk
Brazoria High High Very High Low
Fort Bend Low High Very Low Moderate
Galveston Very High Moderate Very High Very High
Harris Very High Very High Very High High
Liberty Low High Very Low High
Montgomery Low Moderate Very Low Moderate
