This Week in Houston Real Estate: Inside the former home of Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon

The former home of Hakeem Olajuwon is now on sale in north Houston. The home is 7,271 square feet and was custom built in 1983 for the Houston Rockets legend, according to the Houston Business Journal. The home features four bedrooms, six full bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a three-car garage, a guest house, a game room and, of course, a basketball hoop.   • LGI Homes, Inc. has opened a new affordable community in north Houston. Villa North’s homes are priced from the $160,000s and include more than $10,000 in builder upgrades, such as standard with upgraded wood cabinets, attractive flooring and fully-fenced back yards. According to a press release from the company, the homes are located west of Interstate 45 and provide easy access to downtown Houston.
  • San Antonio multi-family firm Valcap Group acquired apartment complex The Remington Katy, which is now known as Luxe at Katy Apartments. The 352-unit, which is now 97 percent occupied, is multifamily community with individual units that average 940 square feet, according to Realty News Reports.
  • Johnson Development was named the most active residential developer in the Houston area by the Houston Business Journal. According to the newspaper, Johnson developed 2,714 new home sites between October 2016 and September 2017, more than 20 percent more than the next highest developer.
