Houston’s population continues to grow and one of its attractions might be just how fun it is to live here. WalletHub recently ranked Houston as one of the most fun cities in the country. The website looked at 65 metrics including the number of attractions, restaurants, music festivals and venues and as well as how much these activities can cost. Houston came in at No. 18 overall on the list. Austin is the only Texas city to rank higher than Houston, coming in at No. 14.

Texas also ranked in another WalletHub list as one of the most diverse states in the country, coming in second to California. The website looked not only at racial and cultural diversity, but also socioeconomic, educational, occupational and class diversity. Texas ranked in the top 5 for racial and ethnic diversity, linguistic diversity, industry diversity and household size diversity. 

In other Houston real estate news:

• The Buffalo Heights seven story, 742,000-square foot mixed-used building has topped out. Owned by the Gordy family and developed by Midway, the building will include an H-E-B on the ground floor, 36,000 square feet of office space and the top five floors will be an upscale apartment community with 232 units.
• FPA Multifamily LLC, a San Francisco based company, has purchased the West Ave shopping center and adjacent apartment complex Gables West Ave. The company will oversee the 397-unit apartment complex while Red Tail Acquisitions LLC will oversee the retail side. Renovations are planned over the next year including an improved dog park, expanded fitness center, updates to the pool as well as the garage and parking. According to the Houston Business Journal, the shopping center will be rebranded as “Shops at Arrive” and the apartments will be known as “Arrive River Oaks.”
• Developers have recently broken ground on The Royalton at Kingwood. Located in northeast Houston, the apartment complex will have 331 units available and community amenities including a clubhouse, spin and yoga room, a large pool with sunning deck, a dog park and more.
• Caldwell Cos. will be building a new apartment complex for its Towne Lake community in Cypress. The project will have apartments ranging from 600 to 1,400 square feet and will have a mix of two-story townhomes and garden-style apartment buildings.
