Houston is the No. 6 winter destination in the U.S. for vacationers who like to flee to warm weather when it gets cold outside, according to a report from WalletHub.
Based on metrics like travel costs, local attractions and weather, the finance site ranked both cold-weather and warm-weather vacation destinations and found that Houston is one of the top cities for snowbirds, beat out only by Las Vegas, San Diego, Austin, Dallas and Phoenix.
The city boasts the lowest travel costs in the country with relatively low hassle involved — plus ranked No. 6 for local attractions and No. 7 for warm-weather activities.
On the flip side, the top cold-weather winter destination was Chicago, followed by Atlanta, Washington, D.C., St. Louis and Cincinnati.
