Houston mortgage loan officer Christy Martin says she comes from humble beginnings —but thanks to hard work, great mentors and a little luck, she’s built a successful career, a wonderful family and a very full life. A stronghold of the Houston mortgage lending community for over 20 years, Christy Martin has the compassion and understanding to advocate for all her clients to the best of her ability.

“I remember the very first loan I got approved for a first-time homebuyer, which was a young family with three kids,” Martin recalls. “Closing the loan made me realize I had to continue with mortgage lending. Seeing, feeling, and hearing their excitement and appreciation was exhilarating. Buying their home changed their lives forever and I knew this was my calling.”

Martin has been racking up industry awards since the beginning of her career over 30 years ago. Most recently, she earned the Customer Service award with Guaranteed Rate Affinity for 2021 and 2022. Her clients feel her dedication, which is why a majority of her business comes from referrals.

One of Martin’s favorite mantras comes from Gandhi: “You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist.” To her, that means letting go of ego and selfishness and working together with her colleagues as a team to achieve client goals. It takes a village, and the GRA team is an integral part of Martin’s village.

Martin’s philanthropic endeavors include contributions to KSBJ, The Women’s Home, Salvation Army, the Houston Food Bank and several local schools and ministries. She loves spending time with her grandchildren as well as her two daughters.
