Riverstone Community Celebrates 10 Years of Prosperity

by Houston Agent

The Riverstone community is celebrating its ten years of growth and sucess this month.

Sugarland’s Riverstone community has much to celebrate during its 10-year anniversary. The 2011 year-to-year sales up 35 percent, home sales this past August set an all-time record high, and it is listed among the top 20 selling communities in the nation by housing industry consultant, Metrostudy.

Riverstone was developed by the Johnson Development Corp. in 2001 and recorded its first sale in September of that year. In 2005 the community announced that it had acquired an additional 1,100 acres of land to expand the original master plan. Today the community is home to over 5,000 residents and builders have begun more than 1,760 homes with over 1,640 already closed.

Riverstone has also hosted a number of large-scale events this past decade. The 2008 Tour of Luxury had a crowd of over 6,000, and the 2010 visit by world-renowned 3-D street artist, Tracy Lee Stum, drew a range of news coverage as thousands flocked from the Houston area to meet the artist and see her work.

“What a decade it’s been,” said Riverstone’s General Manager, Tom Wilcox. “We’ve really seen this community grow and prosper, and we anticipate continued success.” Wilcox has been general manager of Riverstone since the community’s conception.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, Riverstone will be giving away 10 $100 Home Depot gift cards as part of the “10 Great Years” sweepstakes. The sweepstakes coincide with Riverstone’s Open Homes Spectacular event between Oct. 8-23, and those wishing to participate can do so by registering at Riverstone’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/Riverstone/Community, or at the Riverstone sales center located at, 4855 Riverstone Boulevard.
