H+UOA Architects Nominated For Community Stewardship Awards

by Houston Agent

M Station community earns the Architects Community Stewardship nomination.

Hatch+Ulland Owen Architects (H+UOA) have announced that M Station, their recently designed and finished, multifamily community has been nominated by Envision Central Texas (ECT) for its 2012 Community Stewardship Award.

The award is presented by ECT to recognize and honor innovative people, projects and processes which address growth and the challenges facing the Central Texas Region in ways that will “ensure the quality of life.”

This year’s awards luncheon will be on Friday, May 11, from noon to 1:30pm at the Hyatt Regency Austin.

M Station is said to be a vibrant community designed for working families with low to moderate incomes. It has earned H+UOA one of the U.S. Green Building Councils highest scoring LEED Platinum ratings for multi family housing.

LEED certification gives the community verification that it was designed and built with strategies aimed at achieving high performance in important areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

M Station was built by Bailey Elliot Construction and is the latest of Foundation Communites’ first class affordable home projects.

“We are honored to be nominated for the Community Stewardship Award and are very proud of M Station, the needed housing it provides, its LEED Platinum certification and our relationship with the outstanding Foundation Communities and Bailey Elliott Construction teams,” Tom Hatch, FAIA of H+UOA, said.
