Diane Moss is a Realtor for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene in the Spring/Cypress area.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
I was a secretary in a mom-and-pop real estate office.

Where did you grow up?
Warwick, Rhode Island.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
Taking care of my grandchildren.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I enjoy sitting with my husband after a busy day, and we both enjoy a glass of wine.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
I was brought up to be a mother, but I had career aspirations and loved to be around people. But I was never career-minded until I was an adult, when I realized how much I like to work.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Condoleeza Rice. I admire her.

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
My back patio by my pool.

What do you love most about the industry?
Helping people find homes. And I mean a home, not a house. I want to find them a place they’re going to be happy in.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
There are 24,000 agents in the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR). I have been in the business a long time, and I know you have to do something to make yourself stand out. I do it through marketing and self-promotion. My photo is a picture of me holding a key, and the tagline says, “Diane Moss has the key to your real estate needs.”

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Disappointing people and having to break bad news to them.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
Because I’ve only been here a year, I haven’t done too much. But I’m very involved with the Gleannloch Farms community. I also help with two charities. My granddaughter, unfortunately, has cystic fibrosis, so I’m very involved with the CF foundation, and I’m currently involved with the Sunshine Kids foundation at the office. I do not promote my business in them, however they all know what I do.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is my negotiation skills. When I succeed in negotiating an offer after a difficult process, setting up the closing table is quite the accomplishment. As a broker/trainer, I also love seeing agents succeed with my training and my advice and guidance.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
“Less Blah Blah, More Ah Ha,” which is actually written by Ken Brand, one of our managers here at Gary Greene. That’s the professional side of me. On a personal side: “The Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer is my favorite book. As far as movies? I love adventure movies: Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter. There’s so much out there, it’s hard to choose one!

What is your favorite restaurant?
Felicia’s Mexican Restaurant.

What kind of car do you drive?
2004 BMW.

Smartphone or Paper?
Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Houston?
Las Vegas. I’m a big theater buff and I love the entertainment.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry?
The prospect of the 21st century is who you know. So focus on that.

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app?
The HAR app.
