As recent college graduates begin to enter the job market, many will be heading to new locations in order to get the best opportunities. However, it came in at no. 1 for the highest monthly average starting salary.

In other Houston news:

  • Texas Central Partners announced that the Dallas-Houston Texas Bullet Train could begin construction as early as next year, according to the Engineering News-Record. Currently, the plans have a 90-minute route that would travel between northwestern Houston and south of downtown Dallas with only one stop at Brazos Valley.
  • Harris County Judge Ed Emmett held a press conference to present voters details on the flood recovery and flood risk reduction projects that are included in the bond program. The projects currently total $2.5 billion, although some of the projects would be eligible for federal funding, Houston Public Media reports. The projects include repairing flood-damaged drainage infrastructure, improving storm water conveyance and upgrading the county’s flood warning system.
  • As the summer heats up, a building with a pool becomes an even stronger perk. The Houston Press highlighted the 15 hottest mid- and high-rise rental buildings across the city with amazing swimming pools. The list includes Market Square Tower, which includes the tallest pool in Texas and The Southmore Apartments in the Museum District that features a rooftop pool.
