Patten Properties donates $155K to help American veterans with PTSD

by Alsha Khan

June is Post-Traumatic Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month and one Texas developer is helping veterans get the assistance they need.

Patten Properties exceeded its goal of raising $100,000 for American veterans with PTSD. Between October 2020 and March 2021, the developer of the two- to eight-acreage Republic Grand Ranch (located north of The Woodlands in Montgomery County) donated a total gift of $155,000 to PTSD of America’s Camp Hope.

Camp Hope’s purpose is to provide a safe space for the victims of trauma and post-traumatic stress in which to experience healing, according to its website. The organization’s intensive residential program provides comprehensive peer support and mentoring to help veterans heal. Over 1,348 veterans have graduated from the Camp Hope program.

“We are proud of the long history we’ve had supporting veterans through this program,” said Gary Sumner, managing partner for Patten Properties, in a press release. “Camp Hope is doing inspiring work for our country, and we were passionate about helping them to meet an important need for veterans during a critical time through the pandemic.”

Patten Properties also develops Texas Grand Ranch in Walker County, near Huntsville. This community includes two- to five-acre homesites.

Texas Grand Ranch, together with its sponsors, has donated over $300,000 to veterans and plans to keep seeking opportunities to support veterans with their path forward to embrace a bright future with honor and support from their communities.
