New listings still down in Houston

by Emily Marek

New listings continued to trail 2022 volumes in the week ended May 15, according to the Houston Association of REALTORS® Weekly Activity Snapshot.

During the same week last year, Realtors entered 3,434 properties into the Multiple Listing Service. This year, that number dropped to 2,760 new listings.

Pending listings are also down, with 2,448 listings going under contact, compared to 2,876 last year. That’s a 14.9% decrease year over year.

As expected, closings are also down from 2022 levels. Closed home sales were down by 17.3% year over year, with 1,760 properties selling during the week. However, that number is up 4.8% from the amount sold during the same week in 2019 (the last “normal” year before the pandemic).
