The Johnson Development communities of Grand Central Park and Woodforest wrapped up their 2023 joint volunteer program with a visit to Meals on Wheels in Montgomery County.

More than 100 volunteers joined Johnson Development’s philanthropic efforts this year, starting with the program’s launch in February, when about 30 volunteers packed over 2,300 pounds of produce and food items for the Montgomery County Food Bank.

In April, 25 volunteers worked with the Montgomery County Animal Shelter to replace information cards on over 200 animal kennels. That was followed by a September trip to Habitat for Humanity, where over 30 Realtors and staff laid the groundwork for five new homes.

During the recent outing with Meals on Wheels, a crew of 30 volunteers packed over 800 packs of food for program recipients. That kind of community support is vital to the charity’s mission, according to Meals on Wheels Director of Community Development Carrie Watkins.

“This work has a tremendous impact on our organization because it allows us to use every dollar possible towards means for our seniors rather than operating costs,” Watkins shared in a press release.

“These volunteer opportunities fall into our ‘Empower Realtors’ initiative that was launched two years ago,” said Monica Conchola, the Realtor relations liaison for Johnson Development. “We look forward to more volunteer opportunities in 2024.”
