What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
Being a library assistant at a college. I loved helping people and enjoyed learning about them through the types of books they read. One of my favorite professors loved reading romance novels because that’s how his grandmother taught him English.

Where did you grow up?
I’m a native Houstonian and grew up mainly in Southwest/West Houston.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
Happy. I had a million ideas about what I wanted to professionally, but I love numbers and psychology. I eventually found my way to finance and technology and I loved every minute of it for the past 13 years.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Listen to rom-com style audio books and watch funny pet videos on Instagram.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Tim Ferriss. “Tool of Titans” is one of my favorite books and he lives one of my favorite principles — “The goal is optimization, not perfection.”

What is Houston’s best kept secret?
Money Cat restaurant. I’m an experience and good food connoisseur and their food and service are top tier. Plus they have a wall of cats!

What do you love most about the industry?
I’m a lifelong learner and I’m fascinated by people. Real estate is always evolving, so there is always more to learn and endless opportunities to expand or pivot into different specialties. Plus, everyone has a different story and you build real connections with people you might never get close to otherwise. It’s amazing!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Having to trust others in the process and not being able to control everything for my client. I want them to have the best experience possible, so I’m very particular about the partnerships I choose. But at the end of the day, I can only do so much and have to trust the process as much as I can.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Don’t focus on the money. Build genuine connections, don’t be afraid to sell yourself and your expertise, recognize the value in everyone you meet and be consistent.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to?
“Love on the Spectrum” is my most recent binge. The people are so sweet and inspiring.

What’s your favorite meal in Houston?
Its a tie between pho and Nigerian fish in red sauce, yum!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
I love architecture, but my favorite things in Houston are actually land projects. I love nature, so the Memorial Park expansion is one of my favorite things ever.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
My clients’ cat continuously knocking over my camera during a live stream, lol.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I’m actually an introvert, but I get so excited around people I’m like a squirrel on pixie sticks.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Barcelona! You get a cosmopolitan city with access to a beach, and the culture is so chill and friendly.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Be yourself, but don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
Ryan Serhant and Maria “Lola” Torres. Ryan has the best energy — he’s fun, smart and always focuses on being a good person. For the latter, I love fashion and she’s petite like me!
