by Emily Marek

New listings surpassed 2023 volumes for the seventh straight week in 2024, according to the Weekly Activity Snapshot from the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR).

Realtors entered 2,910 properties into the MLS during the week ended Feb. 19, a 16% increase year over year. Traffic at open houses and property showings also increased annually, with over 41,000 showings held during the week, a 1.2% increase year over year. Listing views on HAR.com also increased by 6.8%.

Both pending and closed listings decreased, however. Pending listings fell by 19.9% year over year, with 1,666 properties going under contract compared to 2,081 a year prior. Closings dropped 2.4%, with 1,349 homes sold, down from 1,382 during the same week in 2023.
