Bicycling will be a core tenet of the community ethos at Homeplace, the Randall family’s new master-planned community in Montgomery.

Plans for the 2,100-acre MPC include 17 miles of dedicated bike lanes, plus a network of trails suited for walking, hiking and mountain biking. Bike lanes will interconnect, forming over 100 potential routes for cyclists, according to a press release.

“Montgomery is known as a cycling hub, with flocks of people coming out on the weekends to ride loops that connect to Lake Conroe, The Woodlands, the Sam Houston National Forest and beyond,” said Chad Rochester with Rochester Development, which is assisting in community development. “As Homeplace was a Montgomery fixture for the Randall family for four generations, we wanted to embrace this local tradition. We want Homeplace to be centered on activity, connection, outdoors and fun.”

Phase one of development includes paved neighborhood paths, off-road mountain bike trails and a tunnel that provides passage to Creekside Elementary School and Lake Creek High School without vehicle access.

The mountain bike trails, set for both recreational and educational use, will be designed with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association.

“Homeplace isn’t a community with trails. It’s a community designed around them,” Rochester said. “Working with NICA and creating a place where local students can train and ride together next to the schools already here was the natural extension of that.”

Later phases of development include Homeplace’s amenity center, The Hub, which will include a bike pump track, as well as a dog park, playground, fitness center, pools and sports fields.

The Randall family, a generational landowning family, first announced plans to develop a major MPC on its land last fall. Groundbreaking is set for this summer, with presales projected to start next summer.
