Houston new-home sales increased month over month in April, bouncing back from a sluggish start to the spring homebuying season in March, according to the latest data from HomesUSA.com.
Buyers purchased 1,958 new homes during the month, up from 1,767 new homes the month prior. The average new-home price was steady month over month at $403,001.
Pending sales also increased, with 1,935 new homes going under contract, up from 1,796 in March.
“April brought Houston a much-needed rebound for new-home and pending sales … in line with spring’s cyclical expectations,” HomesUSA.com CEO Ben Caballero said in a press release. “Houston builders are seeing improved buyer activity, but the market is still working through higher inventory and longer selling times. The good news is that demand is moving in the right direction.”
Active listings declined slightly, with 15,652 total new homes on the market in April. Statewide, new-home inventory increased on a monthly basis.
