Without a doubt, Michelle Hinton understands the ins and outs of finding a home to call your own. After all, the Keller Williams Realty Memorial professional has frequently found herself in the same situation due to her husband’s relocation for work. In fact, the couple’s move across the country actually stalled Hinton’s plans to pursue a real estate career. “I was originally licensed in Florida in 2003 and had barely started as a part-time Realtor before we were transferred to Washington,” she recalls. She was en route to take her licensing exam in that state when she received a phone call that they would be relocating to Hawaii. The high cost of living in paradise prompted Hinton to work as a project manager for a telecommunications cable company rather than risk financial insecurity in a commission-based career. It was when the pair moved to Houston that she finally realized her dream. “I saw real estate as a flexible career with unlimited potential where I could drive my own success, and I’ve never looked back.”

That was five years ago; today Hinton is a top producer who specializes in fulfilling the real estate goals of luxury and relocation clients. Her own experience makes her especially adept at understanding their needs and how best to meet them. “Buying and selling several of our own properties and going through the relocation process multiple times allows me to relate to what they’re dealing with,” she explains. “I always try to put myself in their shoes and think about how to make the experience as stress-free as possible.” For her, excellent customer service and a commitment to honesty, integrity and ongoing professional development are key. In addition, Hinton points out that her strong communication skills enable her to provide her clients the guidance and counsel necessary throughout the transaction.

A Master Certified Negotiation Expert, Hinton also says that she asks the hard questions so that her clients have the details they need to make an informed decision. “My negotiation skills benefit both buyers and sellers,” she offers. Her outcomes have been outstanding, which is why so many clients refer friends and family to her. This, she says, is the greatest reward for her hard work, especially as those clients often become her good friends.

A member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing Million Dollar Guild, Houston Relocation Network Group, Greater Houston Luxury Home Connection and KW Luxury Homes International, Hinton donates a portion of each commission to Give Back Homes to support Houston Habitat for Humanity. She also donates to her brokerage’s KW Cares Charity. Although her own dream to become a Realtor was somewhat deferred, Hinton has and continues to achieve the kind of success she always wanted, and that is largely due to putting the people she serves ahead of her own professional gains. “I just focus on my clients, and the rest comes naturally.”
