Becky Griffin is a Realtor for Keller Williams Greater Northwest in Cypress and Northwest Harris County.

What was your first job in the realty industry?
At age 18, I was researching Houston real estate when I lived in Baton Rouge. This inspired me to get my license and move to the Houston area so I could start my career as a Realtor.

Where did you grow up?
Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

What is your favorite free-time activity?
Gardening – I love seeing a seed grow into a plant. I think it is fascinating how something so tiny can transform into a beautiful flower. There is also so much planning behind gardening that it always keeps me on toes. My husband and I also love to scuba dive and foster dogs when we get the opportunity.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Gardening, swimming and scuba diving. Water is very good for me. Its a source of refreshment.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
I think I always wanted to be a Realtor. It probably goes back to when I was seven or eight years old. I’d go in my backyard and I would take the kindling and literally design floor plans of different houses in my backyard. Then I’d remodel and bring my furniture from my room, and just play “house.”

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Barbara Corcoran because we have a very similar background. She went into real estate industry with little to nothing and turned it around and became very successful. I admire her hard work and I think our work ethics are very similar. I have read all of her books!

Where is your favorite place to hang out?
Destin, Florida. My heart is always on the Florida Coast.

What do you love most about the industry?
It’s amazing that everyone you know on the face of the earth has to find a place to live. I am honored to help people find a home to build memories in. Buying a home is a very large transaction in someones life and I am very honored that my clients trust me to help them. It is a very cool profession.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients?
Everywhere. The more people you can meet the more relationships and bonds you can form. I really enjoy getting to know someone instead of just being a real estate agent searching for a sale. I love also being a resource for people who have questions.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
Any transaction that has closed without too many complications! I love it when everyone is happy. Its fun to see something go from an organic conversation of “yes” and “maybe” into months of searching and closings.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read?
“The Millionaire Next Door” by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko .

What is your favorite restaurant?
Truluck’s in Houston. They serve the best crab!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
The Menil Collection. Its very contemporary, which I am normally not a fan of, but this building is beautifully crafted.

What kind of car do you drive?
A Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Smartphone or Paper?
iPhone

What is your favorite city after Houston?
Baton Rouge

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Never underestimate the power of a face-to-face meeting.

What’s your favorite Real Estate iPhone/ Blackberry app?
HAR, Houzz App
