Maggie Castillo CEO and Founder of The Maggie & Maggie Realty Group

Keller Williams Houston Central

Where did you grow up?
Houston, Texas (Pasadena City).

Growing up, what did you want to be?
Growing up I aspired to be a Meteorologist on News2Houston or HKOU. My passion for communications and weather ran deep within me as an adolescent.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Great question, luckily I am able to quickly identify my increased stress level and what I do to cope with it is simple and effective. Some approaches that I take are driving in my vehicle while listening to Ludovico Einaudi or Hauser, going for a walk or jog near the wooded trails in my beautiful neighborhood community, or visit my signature spot, The Thai Healing Message Center.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
This question makes me smile. Mattress Mack. Mr. James’ love and contribution towards our beautiful community is positively infectious.

What is Houston’s best kept secret?
I am an enthusiast for nature, which would lead me to say Extreme Off Roads Park & Beach early midday during the week. This peaceful time will allow you to stroll around the park on a lifted side by side while enjoying the beautiful colors that our world paints while listening to music with your loved ones.

What do you love most about the industry?
The list is infinite. The deeper and deeper that I get involved in my industry, the more the pleasant feeling of giving back tops the list. I love that I am able to employ talent, train seasoned and new agents, continually perfect my systems and procedures, and have the ability to be more of a self-made public figure. I love inspiring others to go after their dreams and execute them.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Work-life balance. Although I religiously operate via my Google Calendar. This is one area where I can always improve.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to?
My great read at the moment is Rising Strong by Brené Brown. I am not a fan of binge watching anything on television, odd but true.

What’s your favorite meal in Houston?
My food passion is seafood and of course you can’t ever go wrong with the wagyu steak from the classic Steak 48.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston?
The Gillman Honda Facade project, Amrina in the Woodlands, Lakeland Elementary School, LaPasha Lounge & Grill, Ellee Salon + Spa…my list goes on and on, but here are just a few. I encourage you to check them out.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
My ability to lead generate. It comes with ease. I sometimes believe that I am a magnet to leads and my ability to convert is record breaking.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Venice, Italy for sure. The history, the art, the architecture. I traveled all of Italy several years ago and Venice has been the one and only place that I am fascinated by. Venice is by far the most picturesque and recognizable city in the world that has captured my attention and heart. The food, the culture, the skylines, even the transporation system is alluring.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Plant the seed before you start. Lead generate, don’t be a secret agent.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
Houston Agent Magazine, Gabe Mendez, Tiffany Pantozzi, Robert Kiyosaki. These are just a few.
