Houston list prices fall as new, active listings increase

The average listing price for Houston single-family homes dropped 0.3% during December amid increases in both new and active listings, according to the latest First Real Estate Snapshot of Houston Report from the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

The average listing price fell to $420,793, a slight decrease year over year. That figure is still significantly lower than the all-time high of $441,748 seen in May 2023.

Meanwhile, new and active listings increased in Houston. Realtors entered 8,025 properties into the MLS in December, an 8.6% increase annually. Active listings jumped up 8.7% with 23,214 properties on the market during the month. Last December, there were just 21,354 properties on the Houston market.
